Plot

The Blandings live in a tiny New York apartment and in the quest for space decide to move to the country, but the buying, building and living prove considerably less idyllic than the family had hoped, as they find themselves besieged by the harsh reality of recalcitrant geology, feuding contractors and exploding costs.
