Jonathan and Sara meet and fall in love, but part without any expectations of their future together when Sara decides that fate must determine whether they are to share their lives (I'd dump her for that fluffbrained concept alone!). Years later both are engaged, but still hope against hope that fate will intervene and bring them back to each other. Serendipity is a romantic comedy saved from utter pointlessness by its two enjoyable leads.
