This is a brutal and painfully well observed drama about two teenaged sisters on their life changing holiday by the sea. Thirteen year old Anais watches her glamourous older sister experience first love with a mixture of awe and jaded detachment. It is this complex relationship between the sisters which gives the film its uncomfortable edge. Fans of Catherine Breillat will not be disappointed by this uncompromisingly honest film which portrays the aching chasm between the fantasy and reality of first love.
