THE OFFICERS' WARD (2001)
FRANCOIS DUPEYRON
Plot
Adrien Fournier is a young French officer who is left horribly scarred in the opening battle of the First World War. What follows is five years spent recovering from his physical and mental wounds in a military hospital, where, with the help of his fellow patients and the nursing staff, he begins to piece together his shattered life and rediscover some self-worth. 'The Officers' Ward' is a deeply moving film, beautifully shot and with some fine acting. It also stands as one of the most intelligent and thought provoking anti-war films in many a year.
