Plot

Part 1: Nan works in an oyster bar, lonely, she lives with her family by the sea. But when a variety show comes to town she is taken with a male impersonator named Kitty Butler. She and Kitty become close and they decide to go to London and end up on stage together and in bed together!!! But things will end badly. Part 2: Nan moves on and meets a woman who promises to take care of her but she becomes a pawn in her class-ridden sex-obsessed world...but Nan can't take it for long. Part 3: Nan is left on the street and turns to an old acquaintance for help and tries to make the most of what she is left with. Bawdy, buxom, raunchy and gay: this is not for the faint hearted but a very good showing for the BBC.
