LAISSEZ-PASSER (2001)
BERTRAND TAVERNIER
Plot
Aurenche is a writer, his friend Devaivre an assistant director and together the two men find themselves employed at a German controlled film studio in Paris during the Nazi occupation. Both men to a greater and lesser extent try to use their work in order to thwart their oppressors and it is this delicate balancing act that Tavernier explores with such power and perception. Beautifully visualised and utterly compelling Laissez-Passer is an enthralling piece of cinema.
