ANNE OF THE THOUSAND DAYS (1969)
CHARLES JARROTT
Plot
A melodramatic but highly enjoyable telling of the love affair between Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. The courtship, which provided the impetus for the formation of the Church of England, is offered a rather romantic perspective and the political aspects are underplayed. This, and the rather dated look and questionable sets, do not diminish the charm of the film, largely attributable to the performance of Genevive Bujold as the sensitive but headstrong Anne.
