A videotape exists that causes all who watch it to die seven days later, when investigative reporter Rachel discovers that the tape is a reality and not a myth her curiousity sets off a chain of tragic events. The Ring is a remake of a Japanese film of the same name, and that was one of the best cures for constipation I can think of. This American version remains sensibly faithful to the original, relying on a relentless build up of tension and our own vivid imaginations for much of the terror.
