Plot
Arguably one of the finest films to ever escape the Hammer stable. Dripping with atmosphere and with a Holmes whose intense intellect and detective rationale create a character whose sanity is almost as questionable as those he seeks, Peter Cushing is exemplary as Conan Doyle's hero and the dark brooding tension, enhanced by the creepy lowlight Technicolor, never lets up until the story's conclusion.
