LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN (2003)
STEPHEN NORRINGTON
Plot
It's the eve of the Twentieth Century and dark forces are afoot, an evil megalomaniac is attempting to draw the developed world into a war of such size and destruction that the planet will be forever altered. Called from semi-retirement in his beloved Africa, the legendary adventurer Allan Quatermain finds himself leading a posse of less than team orientated superheroes in a desperate fight to save us mere mortals. The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen has some great action set pieces and lots of atmospheric lighting, but as is so often the case with such films, a tiny bit less on the special effects and a wee bit more on the script would have paid admirable dividends. Good fun but a world away from Alan Moore's original graphic novel I suspect.
