Sarah is a highly successful thriller writer, but she's become increasingly tired of her chosen genre and yearns to write something of a more sophisticated and sensitive nature. Packed off by her nervous publisher, John, to his remote rural idyll in France, Sarah is under no illusion what is expected of her, but the arrival of John's carefree and lascivious daughter throws Sarah's uptight and repressed existence into agitated confusion. Swimming Pool is a taught, sexually charged, psychological drama with a brooding sense of impending doom and a clever twist that clarifies rather than confuses.
