Plot

A great, atmospheric and very dark addition to the serial killer genre. Easy comparisons can be found with David Fincher's 'Se7en', as this German film is also set in a grimy, rainy anonymous city, Berlin, as well as having two detective protagonists with contrasting levels of experience in the field. The plot is a neat mutation of Silence of the Lambs, involving an underground culture that has sprung up around a market in the buying and selling of human body art and, obviously, this necessitates its removal from the unfortunate victim. The two detectives battle to infiltrate this ugly hidden world, motivated by the fact that the older detective, Minks, suspects his missing daughter has fallen victim to its inhabitants. Gripping stuff, but not for the squeamish. Perhaps best viewed after a 'skinful'. Arf!
