After accidentally cutting her leg at a friends party Esther becomes fascinated and enamoured with the visceral aesthetic of her wound, a fascination that leads her to inflict further injuries on herself in a bloody voyage of self analysis and actualisation. Marina de Van both directs and plays the lead role in this intimate and disturbing tale, where Esther's acts of self-harm are portrayed as an almost sensual rediscovery of her body and her own relationship to it. A remarkable and honest portrayal of body disconnection or self-indulgent, vacuous pap - the C20th Flicks jury is still out.
