After a car crash leaves him comatose, Ben (Firth) awakens in hospital to discover his beloved wife Alissa died in the accident. Trying to rebuild his life he starts therapy, returning to the man that helped him through the death of his parents years before. He finds a new apartment and befriends the landlords beautiful daughter, Charlotte (Suvari). But Ben is a man whose grip on reality is tenuous to say the least. Trauma is an understated thriller that delivers real chills, leading the audience along with the characters, revealing itself piece by piece until the final irony-drenched denouement.
