Starring the infamous Tawny Kitaen ‘Witchboard' is a classic cautionary tale against dabbling in diabolical matters. When a group of friends use an Ouija board during a party one of them forms an unhealthy bond with the spirit of a ten year old boy whom she continues to contact on her own. As her obsession with the Ouija grows so does the malevolence of the spirit she's channelling and it's up to her boyfriend and ex-lover to break the Ouija's spell and close the portal….before it's too late. When I was eleven, my girlfriend and I rented ‘Witchboard' for a sleepover and scared ourselves silly. For years everything I knew about Ouija boards I learnt from this film. How does it stand up nineteen years later? Actually, it stands up quite well if you can look past the distinctly soap-opera style acting and dialogue, there are moments of genuine horror and atmosphere and the new Anamorphic Widescreen transfer gives it a glossy and professional finish.
