Alicia is a wealthy middle class Argentinean who has wafted through life pretty much oblivious to life outside the rarefied atmosphere in which she resides. It is only when Alicia decides to investigate the birth parents of her adopted daughter that her world begins to collapse, because the more she delves the more she discovers about Argentina's military junta, a despotic and murderous regime responsible for the deaths of thousands of its own people. The Official Story is a heart-rending dramatisation of real events, a deeply moving account of a brutal period in Argentinean history and its agonising consequences.
