Sing and his dim witted friend never fail to miss an opportunity, small time con men doomed to failure they trawl the streets hoping one day to be allowed into the infamous Axe Gang and when the Pig Sty Alley slum and its eccentric residence get involved it would seem their prayers have finally been answered. Styled like a bizarre re-imagining of Bugsy Malone, directed by and starring the same man responsible for Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle is a mesmerising mixture of comedy, fly by wire choreography and frenetic surrealism, that, unlike most martial arts movies, if that's what this really is, doesn't falter and fall in-between the next explosive set piece. Crazy, inspired genius.
