WOLF CREEK (2005)

Plot
Liz, Kirsty and Ben are having a great time bumming around the Australian outback, sightseeing, boozing and doing all the other things we only ever do when thousands of miles from home. After visiting a remote volcanic crater their car breaks down and they are forced into accepting the help of a local, with quite horrendous results. The gritty, no frills direction and cinematography as well as the naturalistic dialogue and performances lend this horror thriller a pathos woefully absent from many genre efforts, but this also makes it a lot harder to watch. Vicious and gruesome but also compelling this film has the intensity of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre whilst the high production values will satisfy a mainstream audience.
