When Richard (Winstone) visits a London prostitute nine times in nine consecutive days, without once soliciting a single sexual favour, Naomi is at first gently teasing of his shy discomfort. As his questions about her lifestyle grow more insistent, she is suspicious, but ultimately intrigued by his persistence and mysterious motives. Though as Richard's questions become evermore personal so the simple customer client relationship radically shifts. Everything is beautifully performed and sharply directed, both a powerful human drama and tight psychological thriller.
