EQUINOX FLOWER (1958)
YASUJIRO OZU
Plot
It revolves around a businessman often approached for advice and help regarding marriage as well as family and romantic relationships. He is always able to give great insight and assistance to these particular situations. However, when it comes time for him to be objective regarding his oldest daughter, he finds it very difficult... Like an Ozu version of Jane Austen's 'Emma', Ozu's sweet film is a profound and light meditation on how easy it is to live a vicarious life, and how subjectivity makes making decisions a lot harder.
