Francois is a happily married fifty-year-old teacher. Concerned that rebellious student Mathilde is going to be expelled he sets out to help her but is soon drawn into a passionate relationship with the enigmatic teenager. Realising it cannot go on Francois attempts to end the affair but the consequences prove devastating.
