BOY MEETS GIRL (1983)
LEOS CARAX
Plot
Leos Carax's brilliant feature debut follows the relationship of an aspiring filmmaker, who has just been dumpt by his lover, and a suicidal young woman, also reeling from a failed romance. He becomes obsessed with her from the first time he hears her voice over an apartment intercom and, eventually, they meet in person and embark on an affair that has disastrous consequences. Visually reminiscent of early French New Wave films and beautifully shot in black and white by Jean-Yves Escoffier (Nurse Betty, Good Will Hunting), the film features some of the most striking of Paris night scenes.
