Spruced up adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's epic novel about the fortunes of an aristocratic Russian family during the War of 1812, the historical and personal events being seen mostly through the eyes of Natasha, who is 16-years-old at the start of the movie. The begining of the end for the Russian ruling class chronicled by an arnarco-pacifist with a romantic belief in the power of the peasantry. Contains many superb panoramic shots of action in battle.
