By the 2060s Japan has emerged as the leading centre of robotics technology, but popular disquiet at the way things are developing has led to a UN ban on further development. As a consequence Japan has isolated itself in a cocoon for 10 years, foreigners are banned and 270 off-shore installations wrap Japan in an energy field blocking all communication with the outside world. 5 agents from SWORD, the US's techno-police, are sent in to uncover what's going on and it's not sweet, a band of resistance fighters are determined to overthrow the ruling Daiwa Corporation, but the prospects are bleak...
