Teenager Anna returns to her family; sister, dad and wicked stepmother after time spent in a mental institution following their real mother's death. The two girls suspect the step-mother of involvement in mum's death, but what could easily have been a straight forward 'cuckoo-in-the-nest' thriller veers leftward into a world of dreams, hallucinations, fantasy and ghosts.
