The film seems to be about an oddball romance between an unemployed middle-aged bachelor with a somewhat sketchy past and a middle-aged dentist with a passion for aviation... wild grass does grow in strange places. From 'Last Year at Marienbad' to 'Wild Grass' Alan Resnais has had a magnificent career and this may be his last film. Deeply meaningful Lynchite surrealism or pretentious waffle? One for more cerebral viewers to make their own minds up.
