ARCHIPELAGO (2010)
JOANNA HOGG
Plot
With her son Edward about to embark on a volunteer trip to Africa, doting mother Patricia wants to give him a good send-off and gathers her family together for a holiday getaway to the Scilly Isles. Gradually, as is so often the way for the celluloid bourgeois middle-class, deep fractures within the family begin to appear and the island idyll soon becomes a psychological battlefield. An intelligent and critically acclaimed - shades of Ozu and Rohmer - feature from director Joanna Unrelated Hogg. NB this film has not been so well appreciated by the viewing public.
