Annie’s chief maid of honour for her best friend Lillian, but the imminent loss of her buddy, no committed love in her life and the intrusion of an obsessive, anal wedding organiser causes her to collapse into an emotional freefall. This film was massively successful and hugely popular. Though for me it was a series of ‘hard to care for’ characters going through the A-Z of clichés, mercifully missing a few (an oversight probably borne more of ignorance than desire), and all smeared in smug knowing until we’re dragged to a suitably weak generic ending. I’m very nearly alone in this view.. You’ll probably love it.. and I apologise in advance.
