Boxing Helena director Jennifer Lynch returns with an unsurprisingly controversial thriller centring on Bob, a sadistic blue collar serial killerwho kidnapsfresh victims whislt cruising the streets in his taxi cab, and his relationship withhis surrogate son, named Rabbit, who has grown up solely in his terrifying house-cum-prison. When Bob brings home a new victim,Rabbit, now in his teens,must choose whether he wants to follow in his footsteps. Uncompromisingly bleak and unflinchingly graphic, committed performances from its leads save the film from some questionable narrative twists. (JB)
