Plot

Matteo Garrone's follow-up to his award-winning Gomorrah takes an altogether more light-hearted look at life in contemporary Naples, focusing on Luciano, a good-natured if more than slightly fishy fishmonger. Urged on by friends to audition for Italian Big Brother, the lure ofstardom begins to haveunforeseen effects on his way of life. Less a satire of reality TV culture than a study of the psychology of an ordinary man and hisdreams of fame, Reality makes for an interesting flipside to Garrone's previous film. (JB)
