Todd Field's long awaited return to filmmaking following a 16-year absence since 'Little Children' (2006). Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett), an internationally renowned composer and conductor within the world of classical music, is preparing for her latest recordings as chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. As she prepares, issues in Tár's personal and professional life cause fractures to surface, all of which are captured and filtered through the lenses of social media and cultural discourse.
