Plot

One of two Coppola adaptions of an S E Hinton novel (the other being Rumble Fish). Two rival gangs battle it out, the relatively well off Socials and the wrong side of the track The Greasers. The naturalistic photography of barren landscapes is an ideal backdrop to this tragedy of a tale about wasted youth and gang warfare. Gripping stuff, with great performances from the young cast.
