This semi-autobiographical film, the fourth instalment in the saga of Antoine Doinel, concentrates on his early married life during which time he becomes a writer, a father and a philanderer. A humourous and ironic account of a failing middle-class marriage, a subject that Truffaut obviously knew rather well.
