This hallucinatory biopic covers the first 36 years of the famous Taiwanese puppeteer Li Tianlu's life story, recounting the chaotic change that took place in his homeland over a thirty-six year period, culminating in the end of World War II. Beautifully filmed and historically fascinating, Li's account is imbued with a gently whimsical humour and wisdom.
