Originally derived from Fellini's 'Notte di Cabiria', 'Sweet Charity' is one of the all-time great musicals. Shirley Maclaine oozes charisma as Charity, the sweet-natured good-time girl who's looking for love in all the wrong places. What makes this addaption so special is Fosse's amazing choreography - see for example the sleazy and erotic 'Hey Big Spender'. With a wonderfully rousing score and a timelessly universal storyline, this is great entertainment, even if you usually hate musicals!
