DON'S PARTY (1976)
BRUCE BERESFORD
Plot
It's election night Down Under and a mixed bunch of Sydney suburbanites are gathered round the telly to see the results. As the booze flows, however, the would-be socialists begin to reveal their true colours and the good-natured banter takes a distinctly nasty turn as the characters tear strips off each other's psyches, marital infidelities are unmasked and male sexual egos deflated. An excellently acted, caustically witty adaptation of David Williamson's stage play.
