It's the rip-roaring 20s and, in search of a better life, Millie has moved from Kansas to New York, where she befriends young Dorothy and an eccentric old widow, Muzzy. As she tries to sort out her romantic life and marriage prospects little does she realise that girls are being kidnapped from the hotel, where they're staying, in order to be shipped to brothels in China! But of course all's well that ends well.
