Just released jailbird Peter McDonald is barely through the prison gates when he gets caught up in a fracas with the cronies of hardened crim Tony Doyle. As his penance, he's obliged to drive to Cork on a seek-and-find mission with Doyle's hired hitman Brendan Gleeson. Peter Caffrey is excellent as their loud-mouthed quarry, but the plot twists are almost secondary to the sharply-scripted exchanges between the incompetent kidnapper and his reluctant sidekick. A hugely enjoyable, devilishly funny, Irish gangster road-movie.
