Ambitious but arguably ineffective dissection of a man's murder. Opening with a little boy, awoken by his mother's screams, discovering that his father has been killed, the story unfolds through the voices of the dead man's detective brother (Auteil), a philosophy professor (Deneuve), and a tortured young woman (Cote) who's been involved with all three of them. Good performances but very wordy.
