HOW I KILLED MY FATHER (2001)
ANNE FONTAINE
Plot
Jean-Luc, a highly successful doctor, thinks that he has forgotten his father. A father who left so long ago and who has been in touch so rarely...It's as if memory-or resentment- were a waste of time. But all of a sudden, Maurice reappears from his long exile. He displays no remorse. Without any apparent misgivings, he tries to re-enter his children's lives. He views Jean-Luc's life and world with a detachment that verges on cruelty. As the situation worsens, Jean-Luc begins to question what right his father has to judge his affluent lifestyle. In the face of this father who charms, disgusts and rejects him, Jean-Luc can no longer avoid confronting his own past.
