In "Prodigal Daughter" Chief O'Brien disappears on a secret trip to infiltrate the shady and dangerous Syndicate. When Ezri Dax seeks the help of her estranged family, who are powerful figures in the local business community, the investigation uncovers some threatening underworl connections. In "The Emperor's New Cloak" Grand Nagus Zek is kidnapped by the ruler of an Alliance in the Alternate Universe and is to be put to death unless Quark delivers a cloaking device to him. Although Quark obtains the device, a chain of betrayals leave Quark, Rom and Zek languishing in a prison cell.
