Powerful, superbly acted drama, with William Hurt as a D.A trying to get to the bottom of the trail of destruction left by the complex lovelife of one man. One ex-lover is dead, another crippled, while his ex-wife (Robin Wright Penn) is an emotional wreck but still loves him. If the guy is indeed guilty of murder and maiming, the only chance of nailing him is to persuade the physically and psychologically scarred woman to testify against him. Stirring stuff.
