Epic, morbid romance with Brad Pitt as the Grim Reaper, temporarily occupying the body of recently deceased lawyer Joe Black, and in New York for the holiday of a lifetime. Good news for most people as nobody can peg it while Death takes a vacation, but bad news for billionaire Bill Parrish, whose daughter Joe takes a fancy to. Pitt is as charismatic as ever, but sadly this is a movie with delusions of grandeur, promising profundity but delivering only light-hearted whimsy, with the whole thing let down by a blatantly cop-out ending.
