Plot

This is a subtle and poetic film where the acting is in the expressions and dialogue is sparse. The plot is about a police detective, who has retired after the crippling of his colleague and in order to look after his wife, who is dying of leukemia. He also has a pair of loan sharks on his tail. In order to do what is right for those he loves he must commit crimes. What makes this minimalist film stand out is the unique cinematography which, combined with a melancholic soundtrack, creates an emotional, intense film that won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival.
