LE DINER DE CONS (1998)
FRANCIS VEBER
Plot
Devilishly dark comedy, adapted by Francis Veber from his own stage play. Every Wednesday night, a bunch of smug Parisian professionals, led by the spectacularly facetious Pierre, each drag an idiotic guest to their weekly dinner party, where the unwitting fool competes for the title of prize idiot. The fun really starts when Pierre, who's having a domestic crisis, is forced to cry off one evening. However, "his" idiot for the week - chubby little tax inspector Francois Pignon - still manages to get into Pierre's apartment, where he proceeds to wreak havoc in his host's already shaky personal life. A fine French farce.
