I STAND ALONE (1998)
GASPAR NOE
Plot
A powerful, hard-hitting drama from first-time French director Gaspar Noe, and winner of the Critics' Prize at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. Set in 1980, the film begins on the streets of Paris, with the return of a horse meat butcher whose life is in tatters. Unable to find work, and armed only with three bullets and a raging hatred against the world and himself, he embarks on a bitter and lonely quest for retribution. Stunning and stylish.
