Based on a true story Roberta (Streep) is a gifted violinist with a determination to teach young students in a tough inner-city neighbourhood. Fighting against scepticism and downright indifference, she succeeds with her young prodigies only to be faced with budget cuts that will bring her ten years of devotion to a sharp close. Music of the Heart is a classily acted drama, perhaps a bit schmaltzy for some, but if you are after an ultimately uplifting heart-tugger then this should do handsomely...
