THOSE WHO LOVE ME CAN TAKE THE TRAIN (1999)
PATRICE CHEREAU
Plot
As he lies on his death bed Jean-Baptiste, an artist, announces he wishes to be buried in Limoges, though he has always resided in Paris. Informing those those around him that "those who love me can take the train", he sets off a journey for a wildly diverse and eclectic group as they travel to his funeral and on to his wake. "Those Who Love Me Can Take The Train" is a powerful and moving observation of love, loss, jealousy and rivalry, naturalistically filmed, exceptionally performed with lots of dialogue and skilled exploration of character.
