LOLITA (STANLEY KUBRICK) (1961)
STANLEY KUBRICK
Plot
Humbert Humbert has moved from Europe to America and has fallen deeply and obsessively in love. The object of the man's misguided affection is Lolita, the too young daughter of Charlotte. Determined to not be parted from the girl Humbert decides to marry her mother, a warped course of action certainly, but the only choice a desperate Humbert can see. Kubrik's adaption of Vladimir Nabokov's novel is a dark and hypnotic work, which manages to insight both sympathy and repulsion; A quite awesome performance by James Mason as the tortured, pathetic, devious and ultimately doomed Humbert.
